Dealers Get Behind New Caravan Show 29th September 2011
All the top dealers in the caravan, motorhome and camping industry are heading for the hills this weekend to showcase the latest models, at the Malvern Caravan Show (30 September – 2 October).
Swift, Lunar, Elddis and Bailey are among those lending their support to the brand new event, and displaying their 2012 vans at the picturesque Three Counties Showground at the foot of Worcestershire’s Malvern Hills.
Caravanning and camping is becoming more popular as people look for more cost-effective ways to holiday, and the market is quite literally booming!
A UK Tourism Survey carried out in 2009 discovered that Britons made 18 million camping trips compared to 10 million visits to Spain, and with 77 million bed nights being spent in caravans, motorhomes and under canvas, the sector was second only to hotel accommodation!
Showground owner, the Three Counties Agricultural Society, whose current portfolio of events includes the nationally renowned Malvern Spring Gardening Show in May and the region’s biggest food and farming event, The Three Counties Show, in June, is preparing to welcome visitors from all over the country, looking to escape the pressures of day to day life and simply chill out over a long weekend in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.
The Malvern Caravan Show, replaces the Golden Castle Caravans event traditionally held over the same weekend, and whilst it retains support from dealers and caravan accessories providers, there will be a definite emphasis on consumer comfort and entertainment too, with an exciting programme of free activities to include giant scalextric, laser clay shooting, a fun dog show, a farmers’ market, Rock ‘n’ Roll Bingo and a Hypnogician.
Topping the bill on Saturday 1 October is the superb ‘Johnny Cash Roadshow’, courtesy of Clive John and The Spirit Band; an energetic performance of Cash classics, from the San Quentin and Folsom Prison concerts right up to the haunting Hurt, which Johnny recorded just months before his death.
Said Sharon Gilbert, Press & PR Manager for TCAS: “We believe the new Show is excellent value for money, both for those staying on site and those preferring to come just for the day.
Day visitors can come in for just £10, and aside from all the trade stands, there’s plenty of free entertainment on offer too. Included in the price is entry to the evening entertainment, although an evening pass must be booked in advance.”
Caravans and motorhomes are welcome at the new event, and there is a separate area for tents. The price for a pitch and occupants is £30.00 (for 3 nights) and £40.00 with electric hook-up, and all activities are free.
On site facilities include toilet and shower blocks, Elsan disposal, a shop, catering and a bar, and there are hard standing pitches available for the disabled.
Day Visitor Opening Times: 10.00 am – 5.00 pm
