Anyone wanting to do their bit for the 2012 Olympics can simply get stuffing as part of the national Woolsack project at this year’s Malvern Autumn Show (24-25th September 2011).
Show organisers have teamed up with Woolsack to host a special cushion stuffing station at the show in an effort to gathering up to 20,000 British Wool cushions to present to each competing athlete next year.
Visitors keen to get their teeth into a worthwhile project can bring in their own cushion cover or simply help out others with the stuffing mission. Plenty of inspiration can be found from the huge variety of yarns and fibres available and the unrestricted scope of patterns, colours and techniques possible.
Made from British Wool, by British crafters, the project provides a beautiful and functional memento for Olympians and will help makers gain craft skills whilst using a fantastic sustainable material, British Wool, on which the British economy and early industry were founded.
The nationwide project will involve groups and individuals from all walks of life including, schools, community groups, individuals, breed societies and now Malvern Autumn Show (24-25th September) visitors.
