Duke of Gloucester presenting Best Show Garden at the Malvern Spring Gardening Show 2011

HRH The Duke of Gloucester Returns To Three Counties Showground 9th June 2011

His Royal Highness, the Duke of Gloucester KG KCVO, is to visit this year’s Three Counties Show.

His Royal Highness, who is the Three Counties Agricultural Society’s President for 2011, attended the Malvern Spring Gardening Show back in May, and will visit the agricultural event on its opening day, Friday 17 June.

He will be met by the Lord Lieutenant for Worcestershire, Mr Michael Brinton, Mrs Angela Brinton DL, and the Lord Lieutenant’s Leading Cadet, Alleisha Fletcher, and will spend a few hours at the Show meeting exhibitors, stewards, Nuffield Scholars, rural business representatives and members of the Society’s Council and staff.

The Royal visitor will be escorted by Mr. Roy Phillips, TCAS County Director (Gloucestershire) and Mrs Ann Phillips, on a whistle-stop tour of the Show.

He will also present the Long Service Awards to local agricultural and commercial workers who have completed years of service with the same employer or on the same holding, as part of the Show’s traditional Awards Ceremony.

HRH The Duke of Gloucester is the second son of the late Duke of Gloucester and the late Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, grandson of George V and a first cousin of HM the Queen.

He carries out a significant number of public duties both in the UK and abroad. His patronages include international humanitarian issues, health issues, social welfare, community and youth development, environmental issues and climate change, and heritage and the built environment, to name but a few.

He is the Queen’s Trustee of the British Museum and performs many ceremonial and official duties. He also holds military appointments with The Royal Anglican Regiment, 6thBattalion The Rifles, the Royal Logistic Corps, and the Royal Army Medical Corps among others. Like his father before him, he is Grand Prior of the Order of St. John.
