Malvern Carries On Camping With Brand New Caravan Show 11th July 2011

The beautiful Three Counties Showground, at the foot of the magnificent Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, is the venue for a brand new caravan show at the end of September.

Showground owner, the Three Counties Agricultural Society, whose current portfolio of events includes the nationally renowned Malvern Spring Gardening Show in May and the region’s biggest food and farming event, The Three Counties Show, in June, is preparing to welcome visitors from all over the country, looking to escape the pressures of day to day life and simply chill out over a long weekend in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.

The Caravan Show (30 September – 2 October 2011), replaces the Golden Castle Caravans event traditionally held over the same weekend, and whilst it retains support from dealers and caravan accessories providers, there will be a definite emphasis on consumer comfort and entertainment too, with an exciting programme of free activities to include giant scalextric, laser clay shooting, a fun dog show, a farmers’ market, Rock ‘n’ Roll Bingo and a Hypnogician.

Topping the bill on Saturday 1 October is the superb ‘Johnny Cash Roadshow’, courtesy of Clive John and The Spirit Band; an energetic performance of Cash classics, from the San Quentin and Folsom Prison concerts right up to the haunting Hurt, which Johnny recorded just months before his death.

Songs like The Ring of Fire, Boy Named Sue, Man in Black and Forty Shades of Green are complemented by a perfect selection of Clive John’s own chart-topping tracks. The tribute, which is free to residents, is a feast of sound and vision, with a projected backdrop of evocative images and clips of the life and times of Johnny Cash and June Carter.

Said Sharon Gilbert, TCAS Press & PR Manager: “The Showground is the perfect place for a long weekend of relaxation, in the loveliest of locations, and we have traditionally staged a caravan show here at this time of year.

In spite of the recession, which has inevitably had some impact on manufacturers, the market for caravanning breaks is booming as people literally carry on camping! The event is an ideal shop window for dealers and traders too, so it is important that we retain what has become an established date in the caravanning and camping diary, and continue to satisfy demand.

We are very excited about the new addition to our events diary, and hope that it will be an opportunity for people to really get away from it all and re-charge their batteries.”

Caravans and motorhomes are welcome at the new event, and there is a separate area for tents. The price for a pitch and occupants is £30.00 (for 3 nights) and £40.00 with electric hook-up, and all activities are free.

On site facilities include toilet and shower blocks, Elsan disposal, a shop, catering and a bar, and there are hard standing pitches available for the disabled.
