Three Counties Show is a Record Breaker! 26th May 2011

The long-running Three Counties Show (17 – 19 June) is to welcome more than 900 cattle in 2011 – the highest tally ever in its illustrious history.

The event, which enjoyed a new lease of life in 2010, has seen rising entries this year, partly due to the disappearance of the Royal Show at Stoneleigh, but largely on account of it being the chosen venue for the national shows of five cattle breed societies.

The British Blonde, British Simmental, British Charolais, Murray Grey Beef and Gloucester cattle societies have all opted to stage their events at Malvern this year, with the British Simmental Society alone attracting 150 animals.

What’s more, agricultural trade stand space for the 2011 Show was sold out by March, and the Society has been expanding the area to accommodate more exhibitors since then. The event has also attracted some big name sponsors including Waitrose and Tesco.

The 2010 Three Counties Show was declared the best for more than a decade, with waiting lists for livestock and agricultural trade stands, increased equine entries, an upturn in advance ticket sales and an increase in final visitor numbers.

Said Sharon Gilbert, Press & PR Manager for Show organizer the Three Counties Agricultural Society: “There is no doubt that the disappearance of the Royal Show has brought benefits for this event, and the significant increases in livestock entries, sponsorship requests and demand for exhibition space is testament to our continued growth.

It is the Society’s aim to concentrate its efforts on fine-tuning the event further to ensure that it retains its relevance for the industry which supports it, and maintains its profile as the region’s premier food, farming and countryside event.

Visitor numbers in 2010 were up by 6,000 on 2009, so we are certainly heading in the right direction.”

Other breed societies staging their national shows at Malvern this year are the Ryeland Flock Book Society, the Zwartbles and Suffolk Associations and the British Angora Goat Society.

As an added bonus, the Beltex Sheep Society, which is staging its inaugural English show next year, has also chosen Malvern as its very first venue.

The Three Counties Show takes place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 17, 18 and 19 June 2011 at the Malvern Showground. For tickets, call the Ticket Hotline on 01684 584924 or visit the web site: www.threecounties.co.uk for online booking and/or more information.
