The one-day event aims to inspire children to enjoy learning about food, farming and the countryside, reconnecting them with the environment we all live in and sources of food they eat.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a beekeeper, dairy farmer, or even ferret trainer?
CountryTastic gives children the chance to meet, talk and have fun with the people from the heart of the countryside; from farmers, potters, beekeepers, and ice cream makers to name a few.
From simple egg decorating, to mince pies, barley bread, cake and chutney making – children will be able to roll up their sleeves and get stuck right in with a host of exciting and almost certainly messy, cookery challenges.
Other workshops include making smoothies, creating pottery cakes, donkey grooming, making pots and planting seeds and even milking, providing plenty of opportunities for fun and learning.
Fascinating displays of farm animals, birds of prey and farm machinery old and new, including a rare collection of vintage shepherd smocks, and tools, will delight even our youngest visitors.
As a different take on the traditional tractor ride, Westons will be offering Shire Horse Dray rides around the Showground.
Throughout the day there will be a number of dynamic talks and demonstrations from sausage making, ferrets, the role of Food & Faith (featuring mince pies, hot cross buns and Easter eggs), as well as a pork cookery demonstration from the Ladies in Pigs.
Each child will receive a variety of activity worksheets, featuring word searches, competitions and stickers.
Given the unpredictability of our weather, CountryTastic will be held in our giant exhibition halls, giving plenty of space to let off steam during the Easter Holidays, without getting wet.
An indoor picnic area is available, as well as light refreshments which can be purchased throughout the day.
In order to ensure that everyone can enjoy all the activities on offer at CountryTastic we are restricting numbers, and suggest that in order to guarantee admission tickets are purchased in advance.
All tickets £4.50 (under 3’s free)
