Editor's Notes:
The Malvern Autumn Show is a fund raising event for the Three Counties Agricultural Society (Registered charity no: 511868).
Launched to nurture up-and-coming garden designers, the CBMS is a 12 month vocational garden design scheme sponsored by Bradstone, an Aggregate Industries business. Since winning the coveted scholarship in May, Paul Hervey-Brookes has been working alongside award winning garden designer and broadcaster Chris Beardshaw to bring his design, which is entitled the Bradstone Equinox Garden, to fruition using a host of hard landscaping products from Bradstone.
Paul’s design celebrates and explores the nature of the equinox and its relationship to Autumn using physical structures and warm natural colours. Encircling the garden is a 360 degree wall using Bradstone’s Countrystone walling, highlighting the ongoing cycle of nature. The design is punctuated by circular paths that cut through the planting using Bradstone’s Milldale and Old Town paving.
Chris Beardshaw, who has been working in horticultural education for more than 12 years, said: “The Malvern Autumn Show celebrates everything we love about nature at its finest and we’re thrilled to reveal Paul’s garden, which highlights the beauty of the season using a range of Bradstone products. This is Paul’s first major challenge of the scholarship and really showcases his passion for the industry, hard work and creativity. By the end of his year we will have provided Paul with a sound platform of experience and knowledge which will be invaluable in helping him to embark on a career in garden design.”
Group chief executive of Aggregate Industries, Bill Bolsover, said: “The Chris Beardshaw Mentoring Scholarship is an important partnership for Bradstone as we are always keen to support inspirational design and fresh blood coming into the industry. Paul’s garden at the Malvern Autumn Show will showcase a selection of our products, and those inspired can visit the Bradstone stand next door for expert hard landscaping advice and to purchase products for their own gardening projects.”
Visitors to the Malvern Autumn Show will find Bradstone’s garden landscaping collection in the Good Life Pavilion, where they will be able to gain expert hard landscaping advice and to buy Bradstone patio packs and patio feature kits for their own gardens.
Chris Beardshaw will be giving horticultural advice and talks in the pavilion on Sunday 27th September. Those interested in finding out more about how to apply for the 2010 scholarship are also invited to meet Chris, Paul and the scholarship team.
